I was at a thrift store today called Auntie's Attic. I just stopped in to look around, and while I was looking around I found a small bag full of vintage clip on bow ties! 6 of them for $3.45!
These aren't so cute worn as a Bow Tie, but as a Hair Bow its super cute! Not to mention it's cheap!
Whats nice about using bows like these for your hair, it works with any look you go with! Punk, girlie, pin-up, hippie, mod, casual, etc.
These are the ones I found today!
The first one: white/red/black/blue/green/gold plaid.
7 1/2" wide end to end (left to right)
4" wide at each end
The back had two clips that would normally be used to be clipped to the collar of a shirt.
But they will be used to clip the bow in your hair.
The clips on the back are easy to open and close, but they stay quite secure to your head!
If you don't think they are secure enough use bobby pins or some other hair clips, anything that you are comfortable with that helps
The Second One: Red Checker
5 1/3" wide (left to right)
4" wide at each end
The back on this one as well has the easy to use clips!
Super cute and can be worn with so many things, or just a plain black/white/red t-shirt!
The Third One: Green Sheen
4 2/3" wide (left to right)
3" wide at each end
This one is simple but elegant. Cute for something more formal, or something more party for the night ; ) .
The Fourth One: Black & White Hounds Tooth
5 1/3" wide (left to right)
4" at each end
This is super cute and easy to add to any outfit, simple or fashionable.
The Fifth One: Black Bow
4 1/2" wide end to end (left to right)
1 1/2" wide at both ends
This one is cute and simple. Because it's a solid black it can pretty much go with anything you wear!
The Sixth One: Little Black Bow
3 1/2" wide end to end (left to right)
1 1/2" at the ends
This one is a little more elegant than the other black bow because of it's shiny-ness! Its elegant but simple and like the other one, it can go with whatever you wear!
Cute no?
So as you can see, you can create a cute accessory at a cheap price!
The ones that I found all have the clip already on the back. Some do and some don't. If you find one that doesn't already have the clip, you could hot glue, or sew on a hair clip of your choosing on the back.
I can show you ways to do that in another entry.
I found these Bow Ties at a local thrift store that's right up the road from my house in Seattle called Auntie's Attic. You can find these at other thrift stores as well. Also you could find them on ebay or other places on the web. You can buy the new as well, I personally find the vintage ones the cutest!
I hope you find this helpfull and a cute new idea for you to try!
